How a pool-cleaning robot sparked a deep-tech revolution in underwater research — the Andromeida story from surface to seafloor.
Every great journey starts with a small step — and for Andromeida, that step was taken in a swimming pool. Before we began building India’s most advanced underwater research robots, we were solving a far more relatable problem: keeping pools clean. Our first product, Pool Buddy™, was a compact, autonomous cleaning robot that maintained water quality using a patented disinfection method. It wasn’t just a product — it was proof that underwater robotics could be smart, efficient, and scalable. Little did we know, this early success would lead us far beyond pool edges and into the vast unknown — the deep ocean.
As we gained experience in underwater motion control, sensor integration, and real-time navigation, we realized something powerful: The same tech we used to clean pools could be adapted for real ocean research. That’s when the idea of UUR™ (Unmanned Underwater Robot) was born — a fully customizable, modular underwater platform built not for leisure, but for science, exploration, and innovation. By 2022, we began prototyping UUR with one clear goal:
To empower researchers, students, and marine professionals with affordable, customizable underwater robotics.
The timing couldn’t have been better. India was entering the Blue Economy era, with the government launching the Deep Ocean Mission to boost ocean exploration, innovation, and sustainability. We aligned ourselves with this vision, proudly committing to the Make in India movement. Today, Andromeida is a proud R&D partner of India’s National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) — co-developing control systems powered by AI for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).
Our mission is far from over. With tools like AndroLearn, drag-and-drop customization interfaces, and the upcoming UUR-Quest edition, we’re pushing the limits of what’s possible under the sea — and making sure more people can be part of it. Because for us, it's not just about technology. It’s about creating access to the ocean — for everyone.
From pools to the deep sea, Andromeida’s journey proves that big ideas often emerge from humble beginnings. And as we dive deeper, we carry that belief with us:
"The future of exploration isn’t limited to astronauts — it belongs to aquanauts too."
